There’s no recipe For Growing Up of Scaachi Koul is a story/article that many people would probably like it. People who just left in their house because he/she is in the right age already can relate to this. Even though you’re not like that, like me can relate to this because our mom’s cooking always tethered us to go home.

The protagonist is a girl who left in their house because she is in the right age already. But her mom’s cooking always tethered her to go home because her mom’s recipe was the best. Her mom got it on her mom’s mom. So that makes it a unique recipe.

The girl wants to learn how to cook in that way, she wants to have that Kashimiri food of her mom so that she can cook for herself and for other people but her mom don’t want to give the recipe. So the girl remembered all the ingredients that her mom always have whenever she’s watching her mom cooking. But everytime she tried to cook it, the taste is not the same as her mom’s. She’s so determined to have that recipe to the fact that she tried to ask her mom. But her mom disagree with that.

One day her mom was dying. Her mother motioned her own fingers so that the girl would come closer to her. Her mom wheeze out her final words that “It was just salt.” But her mom was not really dying because she is just imagining it.

I don’t know what’s the real intention of her mom why she didn’t allow her daughter to have that secret recipe. All i know is that the mother wants her child to learn it by herself. She wanted to teach her daughter to be independent and to stand up by her own. Learn things without anyone’s hand.

Readers can gain morals throughout this article. I think this story would help other children learn that learning by yourself is not bad. Rather, it helps you to learn not to always be dependent to other people. So if ever that no one will ready to lend their hands or hearts in the times that your in a bad situation don’t force yourself to them all you have to do is learn to be independent. Maybe, they are not helping you because they know that you are strong and you can do it. So don’t take it as an issue.

This story was very well written because it’s so descriptive. The words that was used are not that hard to understand, for those people like me who have a hard time understanding deep words. All I can say is that this is awesome!

This story left me thinking about what will be the reaction of her mother knowing that her daughter learned her secret recipe. Or is it truly a salt that was missing on the recipe or not? Can she really adapt her mother’s Kashimiri food?

Read it so that you can also learn from it!
